Mounting


The art of mounting paper, cloth, and other materials onto scrolls, hanging scrolls, folding screens, and sliding doors.
Since ancient times, this technique has been used for mounting Buddhist paintings on scrolls, binding religious texts, creating interior partitions, and decorating architectural fixtures. It is said that the modern form of this craft was established during the Edo period.
Within the ward, techniques related to the assembly of folding screens, mounting, backing of artworks, and the repair of hanging scrolls have been passed down.
